Tamaroa Ibendahl House / Part of the Underground Railroad:

Pictured is the front entrance to the B.G. Roots home in Tamaroa,
still most commonly referred to as the Calvin and Jean Ibendahl
home. The house was part of the storied Underground Railroad
during the Civil War era. The Underground Railroad was a net-
work of secret routes and safe houses used by 19th-century black
slaves in the United States to escape to free states and Canada
with the aid of abolitionists and allies who were sympathetic
to their cause.
