My great great grandmother lived in Neche and died in Dresden, North Dakota.
Her name was Henrietta WOLTER(S) nee SOMMERFELD.
She remarried in 1908 to Wilhelm Leo WESTPHAL.

I have been very frustrated with this line. You name it I have tried it when it comes
to researching this line. Apparently she is burried in what used to be called
Bearwagen Cemetary, now known as Immanuel Cemetary.
I even tracked down the people who manage the cemetary, and I am assuming
they never found any records, as I was told they would call back only if they found
something. They never called.

I can't find any death documents for her either. It's like she never was.
I have found her on the 1910 US census - but no death records.

WOLTER / SOMMERFELD

Hi everyone,
I am trying a new approach to an old problem. I thought I would try to find info
about my grx2 grandparents, by tracing their grandson. My greatx2 grandparents
were Johann (Jan) WOLTER and Henriette SOMMERFELD. One of their son's
Ludwig born Jancowo, Lublin, Poland. Ludwig's son's name was Rudolf WOLTER
born Rodde / Grimmen, Germany, January 04, 1912. (Obviously this branch of the
Wolter family moved back to Germany). Rudolf married (on January 27, 1940)
Wilhelmine (Helma) VON NUEHS born December 12, 1915.
They had a son named Manfred WOLTER.

Any of this sound familiar ? Is any one familiar with the records of Rodde / Grimmen ?
Where would I start to look for church records ? I found these listed on Family Search.

Dieter,

My information on the family is sketchy at best. The information I have has been passed
down from other family members. Not sure how reliable it is. I have Johann WOLTER
as being born in Kalisz, Kongresowka Poland around 1844. I have checked the church
records for Kalisz, but did not find anything. He died October 28, 1902 in Karczemka,
Tuschin Parish, Rovno,Volhynia. Do have a copy of a death certificate, but it was
requested by some family member many years ago, but does not have too much info
on it- does state Johann's father as Mathias WOLTER. No mother listed.

Henrietta SOMMERFELD ? She was born Bet. 1846 - 1848 in Prussia ...
She died November 13, 1913 in Dresden, North Dakota, USA. I used to assume that
after Henrietta came to perhaps Canada and then to the States, about 1902 Nov
approx, as her son (my great grandfather) got married January 06, 1903 in Friedensthal,
Manitoba,Canada, but recently I found her and her second husband listed on the 1910
us census for Dresden, North Dakota, and it says she came here in 1904. hmmm.
Johann and Henrietta were in Lublin Poland around 1870 as I have a child by the name
of Amelia WOLTER as being born there. Still looking for their marriage record.
That's about it.
