I am researching my grandfather John William (Wilhelm) Julius SOMMERFELD.
He was born in Prossekelmühl, Kreis Filehne, on 9 June 1869.
His parents Julius (born 1841 in Germany) and Charlotte (born 1840 in Germany).
He imigrated from Germany in 1894, settling at Bellingham, Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota.
He had two brothers Otto Emil SOMMERFELD (born 1866) and Julius SOMMERFELD (born 1867),
two sisters Augusta SOMMERFELD (born) 1872), who died 1894 in childbirth an Bellingham, MN.,
and Minnie SOMMERFELD (born 1878). They all imigrated from Germany.

On 2 Dec. 1897 Grandpa married Alvina Paulina VANDRAY (also spelled FANDRIG).
She was born 7 Jan 1876 at Schönlanke, Kreis Czarnikau. She had six brothers and five sisters.
Alvina Paulina's father was Henry FANDRIG.

Grandpa and grandma Sommerfeld hat 13 children. The last two were born at their new farm
home south of Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota.

My father Ernest SOMMERFELD was the only one in the family who left Minnesota
settling in Washington State in 1933. All of the family were farmers in Minnesota.
