WARNKE, Frederick W. (14 AUG 1905 – 3 MAR 1937).

Funeral services for Frederick William Warnke, 31, who died of chronic leukemia March 3, 1937 at 7 p.m.
at a Madison hospital, were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with
brief rites at the home preceding. The Rev. George Heilman officiated, and interment took place in the
Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were George Zuehlke, Loyal; Henry Schendel, Joseph Brauneis, Ervin Rossow, Russell Mead,
and Gilbert Meyer. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warnke
and son, Elmer, and daughter, Evelyn, Pardeeville; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hessel and son, Abbotsford; the Rev.
and Mrs. O.W. Schreiber and family, Suring; Hubert Schultz, Neenah; Mrs. Irene Scheidt and Armand Behm,
Lomira; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Remus, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pagenkopf and Mr. and Mrs. John Jungkunz, Neillsville;
Mr. and Mrs. William Lewke and Herbert Klug, Columbus; Gust Wendt and Mearle Martin, Marshall; and
Miss Elmira Schroeder and Carl Schroeder, Lodi.

Mr. Warnke was born on August 14, 1905, in the town of Eaton (Clark Co., Wis.) and his entire childhood
was spent there. When he was of high school age, his parents moved to this city and he attended school
here, later being employed in his father’s feed mill and warehouse.

In 1929 Mr. Warnke accepted a position as mechanic at the Speich and Braun garage, and remained there
until October of 1934 when the disease to which he fell victim caused a complete physical breakdown.
Only regular x-ray treatments prolonged his life. Mr. Warnke served as treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church,
and was the youngest deacon of the church.

On July 14, 1934, Mr. Warnke was married to Miss Louise Lenz at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood.
She survives him, as does their son Lawrence, who was born Oct. 9, 1935.

Other surviving relatives include his mother, Mrs. Bertha Warnke, two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Lillian) Hare,
Niles, Mich.; and Mrs. Paul (Norma) Minsaas, Greenwood; and his paternal grandparents at Pardeeville.
